The governor's administration announced on Thursday that they would be sending $450 per child to struggling families in the state.
Laura Walthall, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Children and Families, said in a statement that the one-time payment helps families who are being affected by rising inflation.
The governor has set aside money from the American Rescue Plan Act to send out checks.
To be eligible for the Florida Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, a family must be unemployed or underemployed, have a child or be pregnant, and have low or very low income.
The Florida Department of Children and Families expects around 59,000 families to receive the check, but there is no application required.
