Dow Will 'Slow Something Down' If Europe Cuts Natural-Gas Use

If the region reduces its natural gas use, it will affect some of the company's European operations.

Jim Fitterling said in an earnings call that they were looking at it from a standpoint of maintaining the business in Europe. We would have to slow it down.

The European Union wants to cut its consumption of gas by 15% over the next eight months, fearing that Russia will stop exporting gas in response to sanctions. Some of Baker Hughes' European operations are bracing for power failures due to gas shortages.

The floating natural gas import terminal was purchased by the company in April. The German government confirmed this week that a terminal will be built in order to get rid of Russian supplies.

The location of two more floating liquefaction terminals has been decided by the German.
