A new feature that lets you extract a short audio clip from aTwitter Space is getting a widespread release on the two most popular mobile platforms. It is possible for anyone in a space to make a clip. The feature is not currently available to web users of the platform.

The aim of the clips is to serve up the best parts of an audio livestream without asking the audience to watch the whole thing.

A limited test of the feature began in March. The ability to clip a Space was only available to a small group of users on the App Store, and even then it was limited to the hosts of a Space rather than anyone else. Now that the feature is widely available to the public, it is likely that we will see a lot more clips on social media.

A number of companies have rolled out support for clips to encourage people to share their content. Amazon also allows you to share clips from some of its shows on Prime Video, and in the past has announced similar features. With so much free content available to watch, clips like these are a great way to get a feel for what's going on.
