The Eve Motion is the first Thread-based motion sensor.

The second generation of Eve's motion sensor will be released this week. The Thread wireless protocol is a pillar of the new Matter smart home standard and is used by the Eve Motion.

The motion sensor can be used with Apple HomeKit to turn on smart lights or open window shades. The motion sensor and all Eve's Thread-based products will be compatible with Matter when it arrives later this year. This will allow the device to be used in other Matter platforms.

The motion sensor with Thread should be snappier. The Thread network allows devices to communicate directly with each other instead of having to talk to a hub or bridge. This will result in quicker response time and less lag time. The difference in response times between the two versions of Eve's Door & Window sensors was significant. We will be testing the sensor and reporting back.

The Eve Motion works with Eve’s app and the Apple Home app.

The new Eve Motion costs $39.95, which is $10 less than the previous version and its closest competitor, thePhilips Hue Motion Sensor. The Eve Motion will be available in the Apple and Amazon stores later this year.

The Eve Motion’s dimensions are 2.56 x 2.56 x 1.34 inches.

It can be wall-mounted and uses two AAA batteries.

It is significantly smaller than its predecessor at 2.56 inches high due to the fact that the sensor runs on two batteries instead of two AA batteries. The second-gen model has a luminosity sensor that can be used to monitor ambient light changes. Eve's MotionBlinds can be used to adjust the blinds' levels according to the room's brightness. Eve Motion can be used outside in temperatures up to 130 degrees.

If you want to control the Eve Motion from outside of your home, you'll need an Apple device like an iPad or an Apple TV. When Matter arrives, it will need a Thread border to communicate outside the home.

The Apple TV 4K is one of the Thread border routers. The fourth- and second-gen smart speakers will be upgraded to Thread border routers later this year.

Eve is committed to embracing the new wireless protocol that is specifically designed for smart home devices. Eve has a smart light switch that uses Thread.
