In a rare, candid interview, CIA Director William Burns dispelled rumors about the state of Russian leader Vladimir Putin's health and said the Kremlin leader is very aware of the brutal war he has been waged

According to a CNN White House reporter, Burns said that after two decades of watching Putin, he still is hard to predict.

In the lead-up to the Ukraine war, Burns said that Putin's appetite for risk has grown and that he used to have advisers that challenged him.

Burns told the crowd that there wasn't anything left.

Insider was told by experts that Putin's purge of his inner circle has backfired and created misinformation.

Since the start of the war, rumors about Putin's health have been amplified. Putin said that the rumors are overstated.

"There are lots of rumors about President Putin's health, but as far as we can tell, he's completely healthy," Burns said.

In his last meeting with the Kremlin leader in November, Burns said that Putin made no effort to deny the planning of theUkraine war.

Burns said in Aspen that he believed it was Russia's entitlement to dominate Ukraine.
