Mojang Studios is opposed to NFTs. In a post titled "Minecraft and NFTs," the studio, which is owned by Microsoft, stated that "integrations of NFTs withMinecraft are generally not something we will support or allow."
In order to ensure that players have a safe and inclusive experience, we don't allow the integration of blockchain technology into our client and server applications or the creation of in-game content such as worlds, skins, persona items, or other mod's.
Some companies have created NFT implementations that are related to theMinecraft world files and skin packs. The studio suggests that there could be a way for players to earn NFTs outside of the game by doing things on a server, or that there could be a way for players to collect NFTs by doing things in the game.
“NFTs are not inclusive of all our community”
These practices go against the values of the game. The studio said that NFTs are not inclusive of all the community. Mojang said that the speculative nature of NFTs encouraged profiteering.
I encourage you to read the full post in full, as it succinctly lays out many criticisms of NFTs andBlockchain projects in language that is easy to comprehend. I could have added more quotes.
Many of the gaming community has rejected NFTs after Valve took a hard stance against them. The first blockchain game came to the store in June.
Mojang doesn't completely shut the door on incorporating the technology in the future, but they have no plans of doing so at the moment.
