Three years ago, the word radical was used to describe the foldables of theGalaxy. It was clear very quickly that this design was perfect for modern lifestyles. Three years ago it was a novelty but now it is the preferred choice for millions.

Samsung says that nearly 10 million foldable smartphones shipped worldwide in 2021

According to the post, the industry shipped almost 10 million foldable phones in the year 2021, up 300 percent from the previous year. According to Ross Young, the CEO of DSCC and a well-known display tech analyst, there were 7.9 million foldables shipped, which is more than the 7 million claimed by the International Data Corporation. Even if the number is true, it would be just a fraction of the market.

Ross shared data that shows that the market for foldables is dominated by one company. In the year 2021, the percentage of phones shipped by the two companies was close to each other. The bottom three on the list had a small amount of shipments. With foldable shipments expected to reach 28.6 million in 2025, it's going to be important for the company to capture as much of the market as possible.

The company practically is the foldable market right now, and it makes sense why it is rolling out the red carpet for its next models, even if they aren't expected to look much different from last year's models. Apple is reportedly exploring foldable concepts, but with any sort of release seemingly at least a year away, it is another opportunity for the company to keep its foot on the gas.
