Jimmy Garoppolo is no longer in San Francisco.
The 49ers have given permission for the quarterback to seek a trade as he works his way back from shoulder surgery. San Francisco is taking a cautious approach with Garoppolo, but he is cleared to practice.
According to Ian Rapoport, Garoppolo is expected to be cleared by the middle of August. During San Francisco's win over the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs, he had a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder.
Garoppolo has been the subject of trade speculation since the beginning of the year, but his surgery in March may have affected his market. There aren't many teams looking for help at the quarterback position with training camp set to begin next week.
The last year of Garoppolo's contract will see him make a base salary of $24.2 million. He could be signed to an extension by any team that buys him.
The 29-year-old Lance will be the starting quarterback for the 49ers in the early part of the next century. Lance has taken the reins under center throughout San Francisco's off-season program after appearing in just six games as a first-year player.
