DoorDash will be cracking down on alcohol orders that are under the age of 18. DoorDash drivers will now have to take a photo of your ID when they arrive at your home, in addition to uploading a photo of your ID to the app.

The two-part verification process has been tested in Dallas, Detroit, Miami, Phoenix, Portland, Oregon, Seattle, and Northern Virginia. The service used to only require you to submit an image of your ID when Dashers arrived at your house.

DoorDash started delivering alcohol in California in 2016 and expanded to 20 additional states in September. Food delivery services like DoorDash and Postmates contributed to a spike in alcohol deliveries to people under the age of 21. State regulators acknowledged at the time that most delivery services had guidelines in place to prevent the sale of alcohol to people under the age of 21. It will be harder to skip out on age verification now that the scanning step has been changed.
