Voice chats are coming to consoles. You can test this new integration on the Xbox Insiders today. This isn't a Discord app for Xbox, but you will be able to chat with your friends on your console and transfer calls from the mobile app to your console.

The integration shows up in both the mobile and dashboard of the game. You can start by going to the Parties & chat section of the dashboard and scanning a code on your phone. You will be able to link up your Xbox profile to your Discord profile with this. When you join a call on Discord, you will see a new option to transfer to Xbox. You will be taken to the mobile app where the call will be transferred to the console.

Transferring Discord calls requires the Discord and Xbox mobile apps.

It's a bit of a setup process, but the result is being able to chat to your friends from your console. It is great if you are playing games that are cross- play.

The part of the dashboard where you usually find the parties and chats features is where the Discord calls are integrated. In a Discord voice call, you can see your friends in the call, adjust the volume, and uninstall them from the game. If you haven't set it up before, the dashboard will prompt you to try the new integration if you haven't already done so.

The Discord integration in the Xbox dashboard is slick.

Text chat is not something you can do. There is no support for text channels on the platform. Many XBOX users have been waiting for years for the chance to join their friends in Discord calls, and this will help bridge the gap between PC and XBOX.

If you are a member of the Xbox Insiders Alpha or Alpha Skip- Ahead, you can try out the new voice calls. In the coming weeks, it will be rolled out to more Xbox testing rings, followed by a launch for all XBOX owners in the coming months.
