The New Orleans Saints are hopeful that Michael Thomas will be ready for training camp.

Ian Rapoport reported that he believes he will be cleared at some point early in camp.

Thomas played seven games in 2020 due to an ankle injury. The ankle problems kept him out of the game for the whole season.

His absence had a noticeable impact on the passing game.

In 2021, Drew Brees retired and Jameis Winston missed 10 games because of an injured knee. The New Orleans Saints had the lowest passing yards in the league.

Thomas wouldn't have made the Saints an elite passing outfit, but he would have made life easier for the backups.

Rapoport's report paints a positive picture of the 29-year-old's relationship with the team.

In August of last year, Jeff Duncan reported that Thomas didn't return calls from the Saints for three months after they decided on a recovery plan for his injured ankle. When it became clear he needed surgery, they were left scrambling.

Thomas posted a message on social media.

Dennis Allen met with Thomas after taking over as head coach.

He said that the relationship between him and he is important. I was able to visit him in California and get to know him a little better, because I was able to see him while he was in rehabilitation.

It looks like Thomas and the Saints are on the same page.
