One of the Black girls who got snubbed by a character at Sesame Place is still reeling from the incident and is isolated with a family member. The girl in question is staying with her grandmother because she's been traumatised by the incident and wants to stay out of the public eye. LaMarr told us that the little girl was overcome with emotion, crying and upset because she couldn't understand why she was treated differently. She asked her mother if she had done anything wrong after she saw how the Sesame mascot refused to touch her or the other Black girl. The family and LaMarr are working to set her up with therapy. A Change.org petition has been set up to identify the person in the costume, with the goal of accountability. They are also considering a lawsuit. The Sesame Workshop apologized and promised more bias training. A press conference is going to be held in NYC today to discuss the issue.
