The National League lost to the American League in the All-Star Game for the ninth time in a row.

After hitting a two-run home run that tied the game in the fourth, the New York Yankees designated hitter was named the team's Most Valuable Player. The go-ahead solo blast came from the Minnesota Twins'Byron Buxton. He was given the honor in his hometown.

He was playing in the All-Star Game for the first time in a year and he was named the NL's Most Valuable Player. He is the third Yankees player to win the All-Star Game's Most Valuable Player award.

The game was supposed to be an offensive showcase but it was dominated by the pitchers. After taking a 2-0 lead in the first, the NL didn't record a hit until the eighth. The American League had eight hits, but didn't threaten to put more runs on the board after the fireworks.

The performance on Tuesday was a continuation of the strong performance of the year. He is batting.243 this year with 24 home runs, 61RBI and a.833 OPS. New York has been successful because of him.

The Yankees have the best record in the majors with a 13 game lead in the American League East. The Yankees hope to make it back to the World Series after their last title in 2009.
