Despite a decline in the Chinese mobile market as a whole this year, Apple has increased its market share in China on the back of strong sales of the new iPhones.

14 million smartphones were sold during the country's annual "6.18" online shopping festival in June, down 25% from the previous year. Chinese brands experienced significant shipment drops, but iPhone sales were relatively stable.

During the festival, Apple sold 7 million iPhones and was the top revenue share on all major merchant platforms. The analyst firm said that Apple solidified the leadership at the expense of Chinese brands.

According to a recent Canalys report, worldwide smartphone shipments fell 9% year on year in the second quarter of 2022, and yet Apple achieved 17% market share, up by 3% year on year. Chinese vendors saw their share of the market decline, as their share of the market dropped from 10% to 4%.

The data shows that demand for the phone in China is not affected by supply chain issues or the economy. Given that Apple dominates the Chinese high-end 5G phone market, it is expected that demand for the new iPhones will maintain the company's momentum.

It looks like Apple's position in the Chinese market is good news for the upcoming iPhone 14. The lineup is likely to include the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
