Video games have become an important part of the culture. The ever-so-secret society of assassins has been expanding on a yearly basis thanks to 12 major titles under their belts. It was the biggest game yet, with over 100 hours of content between the base game and current DLCs, but it wasn't the biggest game by a long shot.
As of late, news on the front has taken a back seat to the sound of the game. Skull and Bones is due out in November of 2022.
Don't set your calendar for a long time. The development stage of the game is confirmed by the company. We don't have an established release date and won't anytime soon. Skull and Bones will be released in the fall.
In an official post, the company referred to the game as:
“… a collaborative, cross-studio structure between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec…will define the overall future of Assassin’s Creed [including] an important upcoming, early-in-development project codenamed Assassin’s Creed Infinity.”
What's the code name? Is that saying that the title won't be the official one? We will have to wait and watch.
The release schedule of recent Assassin's Creed games is also looked at. The same basic formula was followed between 2009 and 2015. The franchise lost its edge after the release of Black Flag, which some considered to be the best of all the games.
The two-year break between Syndicate and Assassin's Creed: Origins didn't last long. It would be another two years before the doors of the franchise would open with the release of the next game in the series. All this means what? It was learned that patience is a virtue. We probably won't be seeing the movie until at least the year 2024.
A smaller version of Assasin's Creed is in the works according to a report. Basim, a popular character in the game, is explored in a more stealth focused world.
Hopefully, by the year 2023, players will be able to find a current- generation PS5 and Xbox Series X. There is no reason to believe that the game will be released on the consoles. Old-gen consoles won't be able to handle what Ubisoft can accomplish if they can accomplish what they've set out to do.
PC players don't have to worry as the power of a well-built gaming computer can handle anything. The next game in the series will be available on all consoles. It would be suicidal to work with Microsoft or Sony.
Fans of the game will have to wait for the DLC to arrive. Without an established release date or setting, there is no reason to think a trailer for the game will be released soon.
We don't know much about the next big game, but we do know that it will be a live service game. Fornite and Grand Theft Auto V have been updating their games for a long time. The release of the fifth game in the series was in 2013). Let that one sink in for a second.
Live service is what it means. You don't need to keep releasing sequel and follow-up games to make money in games. Your fans fell in love with the game and you have to update it. Call of Duty: Warzone looks like it will be creeping up pretty soon as the live service kings. The live-service games that are free to play have found their niche.
The story will be expanded through a variety of settings and characters. Eivor is still in the hands of players in Valhalla. They will have to create several characters for players to control if they plan on visiting different periods. Sending a descendant back in time with an Abstergo time machine is one way to do that.
During the time between Brotherhood and Black Flag, there was only one way to play the game. The co-op mode in Assassin's Creed: Unity only lasted a single game. We haven't gotten much in the way of Multiplayer in the games since Unity.
There are live-service games. Do you want to stick to their guns and focus on single-player stories, or do you want to change the formula and focus on co-op and online play?
As a live-service game, there will be multiple years of DLC planned post-launch, with even more planned two or three years down the road. Will the bar set by the game of thrones be met? We will have to wait and watch.
There is no way to pre-order the game at the moment, but we can assume that will change in the future. You can save up to $100 by putting it in an envelope labeled "Assassin's Creed Infinite Fund".
