According to a motion they filed on Tuesday, 11 of the 16 electors claim that prosecutors told them they were not the subjects of the investigation and that they had agreed to give voluntary interviews.
They said at least two of them showed up for the interviews.
According to the motion, the electors were told for the first time that they were targets and not witnesses.
According to court documents filed by the Fulton County District Attorney, each of the fake electors received a "target" letter notifying them that they were being investigated.
Georgia law doesn't require the District Attorney or the grand jury to notify witnesses of their status prior to their testimony, according to a court filing.
A special grand jury was asked to be convened in May to investigate attempts to influence the administration of the 2020 Georgia General Election.
The 16 electors signed a certificate of victory for Trump even though Biden won the election, according to the court filing.
Even though the Republican party had been defeated in Georgia, they submitted a certificate to the National Archives to make up for Biden's win.
According to her filing, she's considering charges against the electors.
Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for Trump, and Lindsey Graham, a senator from South Carolina, have been subpoenaed.
