According to reports, Sarah Matthews is expected to testify before the House Select Committee about the Capitol attack.
The deputy press secretary was Matthews. On the day of the Capitol riot, she resigned as a Trump aide.
She called for a peaceful transfer of power in a public statement after the attack.
I was proud to be a part of the Trump administration. She said that she was deeply disturbed by what she saw. I will be leaving my role immediately. We need a peaceful transfer of power.
The event was one of the worst days in American history according to Matthews.

She wrote that the events on the 6th were a coup attempt and that former President Trump failed to meet the moment.
After Cassidy Hutchinson spoke before the committee, Matthews came to her defense. Matthews said that people were trying to downplay the significance of the former aide's statements when Trump and his supporters questioned Hutchinson's testimony.
Matthews said that anyone downplaying Cassidy Hutchinson's role or her access in the West Wing either doesn't understand how the Trump WH worked or is attempting to discredit her because they are scared of how damning the testimony is.

Matthews appeared before the committee in February. Video of her testimony was presented at a June 16 hearing, in which she said that Trump's "pouring gasoline on the fire" comment about Mike Pence was a lie.
According to an interview with her alma mater Kent State University, Matthews met the former White House press secretary when she was working for Trump.
Matthews said that he was brought on board at the White House as a deputy press secretary. A lot of my day is spent working with the White House press corps. I also work with the president for interviews.
Matthews and Matthew Pottinger, who resigned from Trump's national security team in the wake of the Capitol attack, are expected to testify live during the seventh public hearing on January 6.
She is the communications director for the Climate Crisis.
Matthews did not reply immediately.
