Pete Buttigieg clashed with Rep. Troy Nehls as the GOP congressman tried to turn a Tuesday House Transportation hearing focused on a bipartisan infrastructure law into a discussion of President Joe Biden's mental state.

Nehls reminded Buttigieg that he once questioned the mental fitness of Trump. The Texas Republican said it was fair to press Biden's Cabinet secretary on the current president and a number of examples that have gone viral on right-wing media as evidence that Biden isn't up to the job.

The Easter Bunny had to guide Biden back into his safe place after he fell off his bicycle at the White House Easter celebration.

Buttigieg said he was glad to have a president who could ride a bicycle.

The secretary tried to add that he would look beyond the insult of the question.

Lawmakers can ask anything of Cabinet secretaries when they testify, but Nehls' idea was noteworthy even in that context.

In particular, the Texas Republican pointed to Biden falling off of his bike in Delaware and flashing a cue card that said, "You take your seat." The Easter Bunny photo was a reference to the incident at the Easter egg roll where the bunny tried to stop the president from talking to reporters.

Nehls wanted to know if Buttigieg had discussed the 25th amendment. Buttigieg said no such discussions have taken place.

Buttigieg said "of course not". The President of the United States is a great boss and a great colleague.

The acting president can be the vice president if a majority of the Cabinet deems the president incompetent. The 25th Amendment was discussed by members of President Donald Trump's Cabinet after the attack on the US Capitol.
