The last four seasons the Trojans were 21-22. They haven't won a bowl game in over a year and have had one of the worst four-year stretches in the school's history. They have never qualified for a college football playoff.

USC made it clear that Donte Williams was not the permanent head coach after firing Clay Helton. The top candidates seemed to be choosing other schools, and the season was going to be mediocre.
Everything changed in late November.
Lincoln Riley was snatched from his throne in Norman, Oklahoma and taken to Los Angeles by the team.
Within a short period of time, Riley brought relevancy back to the West Coast.
Riley was able to land two of the top three and three of the top nine in this year's class.
The prized possession of the 2022 class was the former 5-star player at Oklahoma named Caleb Williams. He took over from Spencer Rattler and led the Sooners to a victory over the Oregon. In 11 games, the quarterback ran for six and threw for 21.
The Biletnikoff Award winner as the best wide receiver in college football was the top non-quarterback to switch schools.
The uncertainty surrounding the head coaching position led Domani Jackson to decommit from the USC. He announced in the middle of December that he was coming back to LA to play for the USC. Did you ever hear of them?
The big names were not the only ones to switch to the Cardinal and Gold this year. The top transfers and recruits on both sides of the ball were running back Raleek Brown and defensive backs Zion Branch and Latrell McCutchin. USC's 20 transfers made up the top class in all of college football, and set this team up for immediate and future dominance, even before they moved to the Big Ten.
It is difficult to say how long it will take for USC's new pieces to gel.
There is a chance it could be a week. It could be a long time. It is possible that they are already ready.
It is certain.
USC has not been relevant in the college football world for the last four years, but it has retooled its roster in a short period of time.
Bettors are paying attention as well.
The USC will be competing for the Rose Bowls soon. There is a chance that they could be in the College Football Playoff conversation this season.
