The trial for a writer's lawsuit claiming she was defamed by Donald Trump when he denied raping her is set to begin in February.
The writer said that Trump groped her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s.
At the time of the allegation, Trump accused her of lying and claimed that a political agenda motivated her to make up her story.
The lawsuit was filed against Trump in November.
The trial date was set on Tuesday by Manhattan federal Judge Lewis Kaplan, who also ordered lawyers for both sides to finish the exchange of evidence by the end of the month.
Lawyers for Trump and Carroll have been asked to comment on the matter.
Kaplan didn't approve of Trump's attempt to counterue. He believed that the bid was an attempt to stall the lawsuit.
An appeal by Trump and the U.S. Justice Department is still being considered by the 2nd Circuit.
According to the Justice Department, the government should be held responsible for the defamation claims made by Trump.
The federal government is protected from lawsuits on the basis of immunity.
