Nintendo will close the Wii U and 3DS eShops on March 27th, 2023

New purchases of paid or free content will no longer be allowed in the Wii U and 3DS digital storefronts. In the past, it was broadly targeting March 2023, giving players plenty of time to fill out their collections before they no longer have the right to do so. There is a last date.

If you want to add funds to your account on Wii U or 3DS, you need to purchase a Nintendo eShop card. The cutoff date to add funds via this method is August 29th, 2022. Your funds will be used until March 27th, 2023. You will be able to redeem download codes on both platforms until March 23, 2023.

You can redownload purchased games and DLC, get software updates for them, and play games online even after the store closes. According to the company, this won't change for a long time.

The sale of Fire Emblem Fates for the 3DS will end one month ahead of the 3DS's closing. The DLC will be on sale through March 27th.

There has been a spike in demand for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles, more so than the Wii U. It is not uncommon to see stores completely sell out of second-hand stock as more and more people try to get their hands on their favorite games before the cutoff.
