Domonique Foxworth (l.) claims he was trolling the Mad Dog (r.) when disparaging Larry Bird on ‘First Take’

Stephen A. Smith was not the one who said something that set the social media site ablaze. SAS is out for a few weeks after undergoing shoulder surgery, but former football player Domonique Foxworth had no problem taking his place.

Foxworth let his hot takes fly and didn't pay much attention. The Larry Bird rant was the worst thing he said during the show.

Larry Bird isn't a top-5 small forward in the history of the game. KD cooked Larry Bird all day. Chicken is fried. Birds would be eaten for dinner.

It is one thing to say Kevin would cook Bird, but it is another thing to think they would roast each other. The majority of NBA fans would agree with this. It is foolish to say Bird isn't one of the best small forwards in the history of the NBA.

I don't care if he's trying to liven up the show or if he's just making you look silly. If you want to get to five before mentioning Bird, you have to say that Durant is ahead of him. He is the third best at the position.

It's amazing how disrespectful athletes can be towards their predecessors. Foxworth played for the Broncos, Falcons, and Ravens in the National Football League. The NBA debates comparing the best of today to the best of the past. It is usually the Michael Jordan vs.Lebron James era.

The star players from these eras are lumped into one group and used against each other. If he'd played in the 80s and 90s, Dennis Rodman says he'd be an average player. In 1995 James would have been a great player.

Some in the James camp are so far in the discussion with the goat that they feel like nudging him past Jordan. Camp King loves to bring up longevity statistics and ignores game averages where Jordan dominates James in many key categories. While Lebron went straight from high school to the NBA, Jordan only played three years of college ball.

Sometimes analysts get on TV and feel the need to say something memorable so they say anything. The mission was accomplished. I don't care if it makes sense. That is what matters as long as there is a response fromTwitter. Foxworth walked back the top five Bird comments on The Right Time w/ Bomani Jones, but that was a weak excuse.

If he could go back in time, Foxworth said he would take Alex Rodriguez over the Yankees captain. Foxworth smirked as he said that Bob Cousy couldn't make a G- league team. He could have stopped before he went that hard at Larry Legend.

The rivalry between Bird and Magic Johnson saved the league. It took Foxworth almost a full day to walk that take back, so I think he believed it. Bird is one of the greatest players The Association has ever seen because of his back issues. He has dropped a few spots over the past 15 years, but it will be hard to get him out of the Top 10.
