A pair of perennial powerhouses in Alabama and Ohio State are attracting the majority of the betting action around the nation, but the story is a little different at one Las Vegas sportsbook, where more money has been bet on USC to win the College Football Playoff than any other team.

"America's team," Ed Salmons said of the new look USC. The biggest loser in the futures book is them.

USC's national title odds have improved from 40-1 to 25-1 at the SuperBook. Clay Helton was fired as USC's coach early in the season and the team went on to lose six of its final seven games.

The arrival of Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma has brought optimism to USC.

USC has attracted more bets and money to win the national title than any other team at the Las Vegas location of the SuperBook. Vegas sportsbooks were rooting against USC on a weekly basis in the early 2000s.

Salmons said that if they roll a couple of teams early, the public will notice them. It doesn't take a long time when you put all these guys from different teams together. The public will be watching them if they click from the beginning.

Salmons adjusted his power ratings on USC up 16 points from the end of last season, the largest improvement of any team, but the gap between the USC and the top-tier teams remains significant.

Alabama is the favorite to win the title. Georgia and Ohio State have the same odds. The only other team has a chance of zero.

Alabama has drawn more national title bets at DraftKings than any other team. Alabama is the favorite to win the national championship at odds of 1-2.

Salmons thinks the Tide could be favored by double digits in each of their regular-season games. Two teams could make the playoffs.

If the teams met in the first week of the season, Salmons would have Alabama as a 3-point favorite. The football season starts in August.
