The Silversea Cruises fleet will be expanded with the purchase of the former Crystal Cruises ship, the Endeavor, by Royal Caribbean Group.

The Crystal Cruises fleet needed a ship. All of Silversea's current itineraries can be sailed by the PC6 polar class vessel. The ship will feature the same luxuries as any Silversea ship, including zodiac boats, and will be christened Silver Endeavor.

During the winter of 2022-23 season, the ship will begin service, and in November of this year, it will explore the frozen wastelands of the South Pole.

"We want to grow our world class fleet to meet the exceptional demand for ultra-luxury expedition cruising, while also enhancing our profitability profile and affirming Silversea's position as the industry's leading ultra-luxury and expedition cruise line," said Liberty.

Royal Caribbean Group will protect the deposits of guests originally booked for itineraries onboard the ship during its short time under Crystal Cruises, which will allow them to rebook on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity or Silversea Cruises.

Royal Caribbean will give back the amount of their lost deposits if the guests don't get their deposits back from Crystal.

Roberto Martinoli, president and CEO of Silversea Cruises, said that the industry is poised to resume growth due to demand for travel to remote and hard-to-access destinations. Silversea's commitment to growth is demonstrated by the fact that this will be the fourth vessel to join the fleet since 2020.

The parent company of Crystal Cruises went bankrupt earlier this year, leading to a dramatic fall in the company's performance. The Crystal Cruises name and two other ships have been purchased by A&K Travel Group for a combined price of $128 million.
