The Chevrolet Blazer EV, an all-electric SUV with up to 320 miles of range and a starting price of $48,000, was unveiled by GM on Monday.
The Chevrolet Blazer EV, which will go on sale in 2023, isn't the only electric vehicle that will come from GM. The Cadillac and Chevy EV's are in the works. The Blazer, at its more affordable price point and in the lucrative SUV segment, could help boost GM's sales.
Confidence is high inside. Scott Bell is the Global VP of Chevrolet and he said that the Blazer is going to be a big statement.
At the premiere event in Hollywood, California, GM showed off the new Ultium architecture, a modular electric platform that offers up to 200 kWh of storage, a 800-volt architecture and is at the center of the automaker's EV strategy.

It is the first time that we have done all three configurations in one product. We are going to be very transparent with consumers and try not to over promise. We want to make sure that is lined up as best we can. The manufacturing side of the house needs to be built enough to keep up with demand.
Bell wouldn't say if he had sales targets or if he expected demand to be high.
TheBlazer is going to be a huge statement as to how we can hit segments that are real segments, big volume segments, and there's a chance at doing volume. We are going to have a piece of that puzzle. Bell made a statement.
Though it is not its best selling SUV, the Chevy Blazer has sold well in the U.S. in the last year. The Chevy Equinox is going to get an electric vehicle in 2023.
Sales have been affected by supply chain constraints. In the second quarter of the year, GM reported that it sold 14,289 Blazers, which is down from last year.
Analysts think that the Blazer EV will become second to the Model Y in the compact and mid-sized electric SUV segment next year.
Bell thinks the different trims will appeal to different people.
The early types of people are trying new things. It will be one of those things. Performance enthusiasts will purchase this car. It goes 0 to 60 in less than four seconds.

Bell said that the company plans to continue to leverage the learnings from its previous endeavors in the EV space

Public charging infrastructure and EV costs are some of the biggest challenges to EV adoption. Chevrolet and GM will use the dealer network to improve charging access.
Last week, GM announced a partnership with Pilot and Flying J to work on a national fast-charging network.
