Matthew Pottinger was a deputy national security advisor and is expected to testify before the House Select Committee.

CNN is reporting that Pottinger, who was appointed to the role in the last year of the Trump administration, will testify at the hearing.

He is going to be with Sarah Matthews.

After the attack on the Capitol, Pottinger resigned from the White House.

According to a report, Pottinger was going to resign on the day of the election, but Robert O'Brien persuaded him to stay for the transition.

Pottinger's breaking point was the attack on the Capitol.

In a deposition that was played on the day of Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony before the House Select Committee, Pottinger said that he decided to resign after Trump said that former Vice President Mike Pence didn't have the courage to overturn the election results.

He said in the deposition that he resigned at that moment. I read that and knew I was leaving that day.

Insider asked for confirmation on the report, but the committee didn't reply.

The Hoover Institution didn't reply to Insider's request for comment.
