  • A jury will soon decide if the shooter will be sentenced to death or life in prison.

  • The shooter was sentenced to 34 years in prison after pleading guilty to all 34 charges.

A survivor of the school shooting in which 17 people were killed left the courtroom after hearing witness audio of the killings.

In October of 2021, Cruz pleaded guilty to 17 counts of premeditated murder and 17 counts of attempted murder in connection to the mass shooting that took place in February of last year.

The penalty phase of the trial is expected to last several months. The jury will decide if the shooter will be sentenced to death or life in prison.

Danielle Gilbert, who was a junior at the time of the shooting, testified during the trial. Children can be heard screaming and gunfire can be heard in the video she recorded.

While the jury watched the video, the audio of the witness video was heard by the gallery.

The shooter buried his head into his hands as the audio was played in the courtroom.

One student was killed and three others were injured when a man opened fire in a classroom. She thought they were sitting in the classroom.

A defense attorney for the shooter asked for a mis trial after the audio of one of the videos was played for the gallery.

The motion was denied by the judge who is presiding over the trial.

The school shooting was described as a mass murder by the lead prosecutor.

Cruz made a video three days before the shooting. The next school shooter will be me. My goal is to have at least 20 people with an assault rifle. When you see me on the news, you will know who I am. All of you are going to die. Satz said in his statement that he couldn't wait.
