It was England who became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the European Championships.

Germany, Spain, France, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands and Belgium are in the knockout stage.

The groups ended up looking when the matches were being played.

Who is through from each group?

Group A includes England and Austria.

Group B includes Germany and Spain.

Group C includes Sweden and the Netherlands.

Group D includes France and Belgium.

Group A

England secured their place in the knockout stages with a thumping victory over Norway on Monday and followed it up with a demolition of Northern Ireland on Friday.

The Norwegians could have joined the Lionesses in the last eight if they had beaten Austria, but they lost to the team that finished second in the group.

Northern Ireland went winless in their three matches.

Group B

Group B

Germany secured top spot in the group and avoided a quarter-finals meeting with England with a victory over Finland.

The eight-time European champion will face Austria.

Spain finished second in the group and will play the Lionesses in the next round.

Three straight losses by the Finns means they end up bottom of the group.

Group C

Heading into the final games of Group C, all four teams were still in with a chance of making it to the knockout stages.

Sweden, runners-up in 1987, beat Portugal five to nil to top the group and keep their record of reaching the knockout stage of every Euros they have qualified for.

The Netherlands beat Switzerland to qualify for the quarter-finals, where they will face France.

Switzerland and Portugal both picked up a point and are leaving the tournament.

Group D

Group D

Group D came to an end.

France won the group after beating Italy and edging past Belgium.

The last match they played, they conceded a goal from the penalty spot in the 12th minute.

The draw wasn't enough as the team finished third and became the first side in tournament history to not lose a game.

The second place finish in the group was achieved by Belgium, who beat Italy in the other game.

France plays the Netherlands in the last eight while Belgium plays Sweden.

When do the quarter-finals take place?

England will play Spain on July 20.

Germany plays Austria on Thursday, 21 July.

Sweden plays Belgium on Friday, July 22nd.

France is playing the Netherlands on July 23.
