"The money, the contract has never been why I play this game. I want to play for the Yankees and be here for a long time. If it works out, it works out - if it doesn't, it doesn't."

Cashman said in April that the Yankees offered Judge a seven-year extension but it was rejected.

After an impressive start to the season, the outfielder could cost more to sign a new contract. Judge heads into the All-Star break with a big league-leading 33 home runs to go with a.284 average.

The Yankees have the best record in baseball.

Judge has four All-Star selections and two finishes in the top five of the Most Valuable Player voting. He wants to lead the league in home runs for the second time, and he's averaged 47 home runs in his career.

Judge has shown he can stay healthy after dealing with injuries earlier in his career. He played in over 150 games in the year 2021.

If he goes to the open market, he will be in high demand, but he wants to stay in New York.

Judge told reporters that he wants to be a Yankee for the rest of his life.

It's clear that it will take a bigger offer to get Judge signed by the Yankees.
