The summer transfer window is almost done. There are a few more players in, a few more out, and some new gossip.

In the midst of all that, how do you understand a league and its teams? With a happy expression.

Last week, we saw a couple of superstars make their MLS debuts, with Giorgio Chiellini and Gareth Bale wearing LAFC shirts for the first time. Bernardeschi will make his debut in Toronto soon. Cucho Hernandez had to play three games in order to make sure that the Columbus Crew were not going to be a problem for him. That doesn't even touch on the moves that are coming.

What does that mean for the power rankings? Let's get started.

1. LAFC

The previous ranking was one.

July 23 is the next MLS match. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Imagine being able to treat Bale and Chiellini in a way that made them happy. LAFC gets to do that, and while the superstars' debuts were a little disappointing in Nashville, Arango was nothing but good. Chicho and the Black and Gold are having a good time.

2. New York City FC

The previous ranking was three.

The next MLS match is on July 23. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Valentin Castellanos scored the winner for the Pigeons against the Red Bulls, but will he wear a NYCFC shirt again? He wants a move to Europe and there are reports that he will be moving to Girona. Losing him would be a big change to the team.

3. Austin FC

The previous rank was 2.

The next MLS match is on July 24. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

After a win over Houston and a draw against Dallas, there is no doubt who is the best team in the state. Brad Stuver is one of the reasons for that. The best goalkeeper in the league.

4. Philadelphia Union

The previous ranking was five.

The next MLS match is on July 23rd. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

It's impressive that the top of the East is tied for the league lead. Imagine what Philadelphia will look like when it clicks. Jim Curtain's crew looks to be building toward something special after winning two more games against Miami and New England.

play

The penalty kick was put away for the Union.

5. New York Red Bulls

The previous ranking was four.

The next MLS match is at Austin FC. It's on ABC.

The Red Bulls lost to NYCFC. The path to the top of the city and conference will be cleared if three points are dropped on a Castellanos win. The person is playing a game.

6. Real Salt Lake

The previous ranking was six.

The next MLS match is on July 23. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Justen Glad came back from an injury to help break the losing streak for Real Salt Lake. It's amazing how that happens.

7. FC Dallas

The previous ranking was seven.

July 23 is the next MLS match. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Is Dallas the good team that keeps taking leads or is it the bad team that keeps blowing leads? At some point FCD can't keep allowing late goals and settling for draws like they did against Austin, but you generally want to bet on the team that plays well for a long time.

8. CF Montreal

The previous ranking was eight.

The next MLS match is at D.C. United. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

It's always good to beat your rival and that's what Montreal did, they beat Toronto and Djordje came back frominjury. Now is the time to see where this team goes.

play

Montreal scored after Lukas MacNaughton made a mistake.

9. Nashville SC

The previous rank was 9.

The next MLS match is at FC Cincinnati. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

You don't want to lose points at home, but can you really be upset when it's because someone scored a goal that is ridiculous? You have to keep in mind that you beat Seattle a few days ago.

10. Orlando City

The previous ranking was ten.

The next MLS match is against Philadelphia Union. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Two more points in road games is a good showing, but both of last week's draws were from winning positions. You love what they can do for most of the game, but they have to figure out how to end it.

11. Minnesota United

The previous ranking was 13.

The next MLS match is on July 23rd. It's on ABC.

Emanuel Reynoso is remarkable, even though Adrian Heath teams are unremarkable. The Loons' four points last week were their fifth in a row and he is playing as well as anyone in the league.

12. FC Cincinnati

The previous rank was 11.

The next MLS match is on July 23rd. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The loss to the Crew will sting more, but the draw with the Whitecaps was the bigger issue. Three of 10 home games have been won by Cincinnati.

play

The Columbus Crew were able to put up a fight in the 16th.

13. Columbus Crew

The previous rank was 19

The next MLS match is on July 23. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Lucas Zelarayan was good enough on his own. Good luck to everyone else. In their past three games, the duo has combined for five goals and five assists.

14. Colorado Rapids

The previous rank was 21.

The next MLS match is on July 23rd. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Since the club traded him away, Zardes has two goals and an assist, and the Rapids were happy to get their first win of the season on Saturday. Colorado is three points behind L.A. for the last playoff spot.

15. Portland Timbers

The previous ranking was 18.

The next MLS match is on July 23. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

What this rivalry needed was a playoff spot on the line, and that's what happened with a draw against the Whitecaps. It's time to get wild.

16. Inter Miami CF

The previous rank was 17

July 23 is the next MLS match. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The defensive work he put in to help create Miami's last-minute winner against Charlotte stood out, even though he scored in both of Inter's matches last week. We all knew that the Industrious Higuain would be it.

play

Rodrguez scored a goal in the 93rd minute to give Miami a 4-3 lead over Charlotte.

17. Charlotte FC

The previous ranking was fifteen.

The next MLS match is at Toronto FC. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The best part of Yordy Reyna's goal was that he was running away to celebrate it as soon as it came off his foot, not that it was perfectly curled into the top corner. The act of making a statement. Charlotte was unable to hold up the lead.

18. Seattle Sounders

The previous ranking was fourteen.

The next MLS match is on July 23. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The Sounders have not scored a goal in over 300 minutes. I'm not very good at math.

19. Vancouver Whitecaps

The previous ranking was twenty.

The next MLS match is on July 23. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The Whitecaps have been terrible away from BC Place, so a pair of road draws in Cincinnati and Portland is good news.

20. New England Revolution

The previous rank was 16.

The next MLS match is at Columbus Crew. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The Revs' points were dropped from winning positions to blowing a lead against Philly. There are twenty-four.

play

The Rapids scored in the 75th minute to win the game.

21. LA Galaxy

The previous ranking was twelve.

The next MLS match is on July 24. Time.

TheGalaxy are starting to look similar. Two of the three teams in the West that lost last week were in San Jose and Colorado. In July, you don't sound the alarm, but maybe wave a flag?

22. Atlanta United FC

The previous rank was 23.

The next MLS match is on July 24th at LAGalaxy. Time.

You would think that Atlanta was starting to find some stability, but you wouldn't see it on the field. They were in the room where the head of the table was left to be run by a different person. Who knows what the future holds for the five stripes?

23. Houston Dynamo

The previous rank was 22.

The next MLS match is against Minnesota United. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

After beating San Jose, the Dynamo are perfect in their next game. Sample sizes are fun.

24. San Jose Earthquakes

The previous rank was 25.

The next MLS match is on July 23. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The San Jose Earthquakes played three games in eight days and barely went to the bench. Alex Covelo wants to play more players.

play

Jackson scored a goal for the Earthquakes.

25. Chicago Fire

The previous rank was 27.

The next MLS match is at the Whitecaps. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The Fire have beaten Toronto and Seattle in the last week. There are people thinking about putting the Chicago bandwagon back together.

26. Sporting Kansas City

The previous rank was 26.

The next MLS match is against LAFC. It's on ABC.

It was kind of like the days ofSporting when Roger was not in the referee's good graces and Peter was yelling from the sideline. The results don't look like the old SKC.

27. D.C. United

The previous rank was 28.

The next MLS match is on July 23rd. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Wayne Rooney knows that the D.C. defense is in bad shape. You get an expected winless week with a draw against Columbus and a loss in Minnesota.

28. Toronto FC

The previous rank was 24.

The next MLS match is on July 23. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Toronto may need three more after losing to Chicago and Montreal, because they only have one of the new signings.
