The BrizeNorton Air Force base and London Luton Airport stopped flights on Monday due to the heat.

Sky News reported that the Royal Air Force shut down operations at BrizeNorton because the runway has melted.

The UK declared a national emergency on Friday due to the possibility of record-breaking temperatures on July 18 and 19. For the first time in the country's history, the national weather service has predicted a temperature over 104 degrees. In Cambridge, the UK's current record temperature is 101.6%.

The top priority of the Royal Air Force is flight safety, so aircraft are using alternative airfields. There is no impact on the operations of the Royal Air Force.
