RAF Brize Norton is the largest Royal Air Force base in the United Kingdom.

According to reports from Sky News in the United Kingdom, the country's largest Royal Air Force base,RAF BrizeNorton, has stopped all incoming and outgoing flights because of the heat.

Europe is in the throes of a severe heatwave, and an Air Force base in the United Kingdom is seeing some of the harsher effects. The runway at Royal Air Force Base, BrizeNorton, melted under the heat. Incoming flights to the base may have to be sent to nearby locations if there is an event like this.

Flight safety remains our top priority, so aircraft are using alternative airfields in line with a long established plan. There is no impact on the operations of the Royal Air Force.

The United Kingdom is in the middle of a heat wave. It was the hottest day of the year so far when it was recorded in Essex and London this morning. The Met Office has issued a Red Extreme heat warning for Monday and Tuesday in London, which is the first time it has ever done that. The Met Office chief executive said that the heat forecast is unprecedented. The previous record high temperature was 38.7 degrees Celsius (101.66 degrees Fahrenheit) in 2019.

The effects of heatwaves will be worsened in places that are not equipped for such high temperatures as climate change continues.
