ESPN+ is getting a big price hike

The price of the annual plan will go up from $69.99 to $99.99 on August 23. The price hike is the second in a year.

According to the company, subscribers will be notified in an email next week.

There will be no price increase for the Disney bundle. The bundle subscribers pay a monthly fee for Hulu with ads or no ads.

The price for the UFC pay-per-view events will not change. The rates for these events were increased in January.

The recent introduction of many live events on the Disney-backed sports streaming service due to new contracts with the National Hockey League could give the company new revenue. Over 22,000 live events can be found on Disney+.

It was only a matter of time before consumers were able to purchase live sports rights.

The change reflects the significantly increased scope, scale and value of ESPN+ as we continue to add significantly to both live sports and original programs and series, and it is part of an established plan to ensure ESPN+ is a profitable and strong long-term business

The sports streamer became the home of the tour. The golf package was initially priced at $9.99 per month. The streaming service expanded its coverage hours by three times.

The entire NHL out-of-market package of over 1,000 games was added last year. The package used to be called NHL.TV.

College sports such as SEC and Big 12, as well as expanded rights to Wimbledon and the Australian Open were added to the service. Major League Baseball and the FA Cup were renewed by the company. The first exclusive NFL game will be streamed later this year by the sports network.

MLS Live is an out of market package. This will no longer be the case as Apple announced a deal to broadcast all MLS games for a decade. The content will be a big blow to the streaming service. Some of the traditional MLS broadcast rights could be maintained by linear Disney.

The monthly price was raised from $5.99 to $6.99.

The sports streaming competitors are more expensive than the sports network. DAZN charges $19.99 a month. The Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins games are streamed on the New England Sports Network at a cost of $29.99 per month. The Bally Sports app is available for $19 a month.

Disney said that it had added one million subscribers for its second fiscal quarter of 2022.
