James Harden wants whatever is left over in contract talks with the Philadelphia 76ers.
It was explained to me how we could improve and what the market value was for certain players. Harden told Yahoo Sports that he told Daryl to improve the roster, sign who he needed to sign, and give him whatever he wanted. I want to lose. I would like to compete for a title. At this point, that's all that matters to me. I'm willing to take less in order to get that done.
The 76ers acquired Harden from the Nets in February. Philadelphia's second-round exit in the playoffs was due to injuries to Embiid and Harden.
The Miami Heat's P.J. Tucker was the type of player the Philadelphia 76ers needed. The Philadelphia Eagles signed Tucker to a three-year deal this off-season in order to improve their depth. Harden didn't want to become a free agent, but he's focused on staying in Philadelphia.
Harden thinks that the team has a lot more depth. We wanted to address that. We're in a good position to go a lot further. I like the way we stack up.
The 76ers were driven by Harden and Embiid.
Harden said they have meetings about how they are going to play and what they need to do to win a title. Two of the best players at their positions on the same team is a great building block. We want to lead this team to the top. I think we can do it
Harden has a Hall of Fame-worthy resume that includes an NBA Most Valuable Player award, three scoring titles, and 10 All-Star selections, but he is still chasing a title. In 2012 he reached the NBA Finals with the Oklahoma CityThunder.
