It is not ideal that so many senior players are absent from the tour of Singapore and Australia.

There are nine players who have not traveled.

Some players did not meet entry requirements when travel arrangements were made, according to Palace.

The players' Covid-19 vaccine status will not be discussed.

People entering Singapore where Palace played on Friday have to be fully vaccine free. Earlier this month, similar restrictions for Australia were removed.

"It is not the ideal situation for a manager to have so many players behind him," said Vieira.

Different reasons have kept players behind. We don't want to talk about the private situation of players or whether they are vaccine free. The players had to have more training and play more games.

Osian Roberts oversaw Saturday's friendly with Ipswich at the Palace training ground, which was attended by many of the club's top players.

It's hard. We haven't been allowed to work on a tactical basis together. It will take a few games before the team gels.

He said the experience of the tour for the younger players was unbelievable. They could play United in front of tens of thousands of people.

They are excited about that. They will give us a lot of information. Senior players who need to play games are here.

Cheick Doucoure, Palace's new signing from Lens, has been accused of being the victim of blackmail and extortion by his lawyer.

I am aware of it. I talked to both of them. The player is supported by the club and myself. The lawyer made a strong statement. It is something he, the player and the club do not agree with.

Vieira wants more signings

Even though Palace finished in mid-table, even though they have mostly done in the nine years since they returned to the top flight, the first season at Selhurst Park was viewed as a positive by many.

They have also signed England keeper Sam Johnstone and forward Malcolm Ebiowei.

He feels he is short in a couple of departments because of the return of Clancy.

He wants to improve from last year in order to play the game better.

Improving the squad is one way of doing that. We don't have enough players to field a team. We hope to make a couple of signings that will help us be moreambitious.

The 22-year-old's performances for Palace last season earned him a place in the England squad, but he won't be coming back to the club.

He said there was no chance at the moment. He is a member of the club. There is no way to get him back.
