The January 6 committee has filled in the blanks on actions taken by the president on the day of the Capitol riot, according to Rep. Adam Kinzinger.

The Illinois Republican was speaking on CBS's Face the Nation on Sunday when Margaret Brennan asked if the committee had discovered what Trump was doing and who he had spoken with after he left his rally.

Kinzinger said that they had filled in the blanks. I can't say that we'll be able to explain everything. This is going to change the way people look at things.

The actions, or lack of actions, taken by Trump to quell the insurrection is one of the questions being asked by the House select committee. Witness testimony will show that Trump ignored those around him who urged him to call off his supporters sooner.

The president didn't do a lot, but he was happy to watch TV.

He said that if he were a president, he would have tried to save the Capitol. He did something different.

Cassidy Hutchinson, who served as a top aide to White House Chief of Staff MarkMeadows, gave a lot of information about the president's actions that day. She said she heard that Trump knew some people in the crowd were armed when he confronted the Secret Service agents. She was called "bad news" by Trump.

The January 6 committee hearings have been dismissed by Trump as illegitimate and as an insult to republicans.

The committee was considering asking the two men for testimony. He believes he could lie under oath, but he doesn't know if talking to Trump is worth it.

Trump's office didn't reply immediately.
