TheSeattleMariners won't be getting the break their manager says they need because they're headed to the All-Star game.

Scott knows that the time off sounds funny. "It's hard to say you need a break when you win 14 games in a row,'' the skipper said after the Seattle victory.

Is it?

Their most recent streak was during the 2001 playoffs.

The top wild-card spot is still up for grabs, and Seattle is just a half game back of the team. They are nine games behind the Astros in the division.

Going into the All-Star break, the 14-game winning streak is the longest in baseball history.

France thinks it will be good for us to let our bodies recuperate. A lot of the guys in the locker room are playing banged up. The next couple of days will be great for them.

The SeattleMariners matched the Atlanta Braves' June streak for the longest this season, as Cal Raleigh's two-run home run in the fourth gave them the lead. St. Louis won 17 games last year.

Rodriguez lined a double off the wall in left-center field in the seventh, then raced home on France's single for a 6-1 lead, his second home run in as many games.

He was barely hitting.200 and didn't have any homers on May 1. Rodriguez is the first member of the team since 2001 to be an All- Star.

"I don't think anyone will ever forget it, this is a stretch we're in, I don't think anyone will ever forget it,'' he said. What a way to finish the first half.

France hit a solo shot in the fifth, his 11th home run, a few hours after he was added to the All-Star team. The Angels will be without Mike Trout for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

France's two hits boosted his average to.308 and he said that hope was out the window. I was about to get ready for the game.

The addition of France was one of the last replacements and it was better than ever. Rodriguez is not the only one who declined to speak to reporters after the game.

Julio wanted someone to babysit him. Ty will have a hard time getting his work done for him.

The Rangers were swept in a four-game series for the first time this year after Marcus Semien's 12th home run gave them a lead in the third.

Chris Woodward said that they needed a few days off to think. We should rest a bit. Guys are tired. The people were fighting to the end.

The bases were loaded with two outs in the fourth when Ryan Borucki got Josh Smith to ground out. In the fifth, Semien, Seager and Lowe were retired by the left-handed pitcher.

Glenn Otto was 0-4 in five starts after being on the COVID-19 list. The right-handed pitcher was hit on the right side by Surez's broken bat in the second and was able to stay in the game.

After starting on three days' rest for the first time in his career, Chris Flexen was tagged for a run in the third. After a leadoff walk, Paul Sewald worked a perfect ninth.
