Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that the New York Yankees and New York Mets will look into a trade for Juan Soto.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Nats will have to "enter trade offers" ahead of the August 2 deadline because of the rejection of an extension offer from the team.
Heyman listed the Mets, Yankees, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Dodgers as possible landing spots for Soto, but a high asking price could make it hard to work out a trade.
A top decision-maker with a rival team told Heyman that it would be similar to Kevin Durant.
It would take the biggest trade package ever to get Soto.

He is one of the most valuable players in baseball because he can't be a free agent until after the 2024 season.
Considering what he turned down, an acquiring team might be worried about paying his next contract. He agreed to a $17.1 million contract in the year 2022.
The Mets and Yankees are two of the few teams that can afford it.
Even if Soto isn't moved before the deadline, it could be something for both teams to consider next year.
