Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil series, staring at a rat.

There is a new Resident Evil series on the internet. The premise of the show is that the baddies of the franchise have established a utopia called New Raccoon City in the year 2022. In 2036, New Raccoon is overrun with zombies and everything has gone to hell. One of the big players in the RE franchise is Albert Wesker, who has two daughters and a son, as well as a daughter and son-in-law.

I haven't watched the show yet, but I think Reddick is one of the best character actors around. His voice and presence have stayed with me ever since I first saw him on Fringe. I haven't seen everything he's in, but he's great in the things that I've seen to include him. He has the gravitas of a Final Fantasy villain about to ruin your shit, and I can't help but adore him. Wesker, the man who does a fusion dance with a character from The Matrix, would be the perfect character for him.

Reddick plays Albert Weskers multiple times in Resident Evil. In the last episode of the series, Wesker is a clone named Albert, who has a pair of other clones in the form ofBert and Alby. Wesker died after Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar blew him up in the Resident Evil 5 game. Before he died, he created clones in order to keep his bad reputation alive.

This would be a decent extension of the Resident Evil mythology and would allow for a brief bit of humor as the episode begins. The purpose of the show is to show how even a normal human Wesker is so insufferable that he wouldn't be able to get along with two different people. Lance Reddick bickering with his fellow clones and one of them having a very silly beard would make me want to watch it.

They had to show Reddick as the original Wesker from Resident Evil and he looked great. With those shades, and that ridiculous wig and trenchcoat, Reddick looks like he is auditioning to be the next Blade, and I will be damned if he doesn't look good doing it. He gave the character a genuine sense of dread as he lumbered from clone to clone and stared them down.

He is black. Andrew Dabb told The Gamer that Wesker wouldn't allow himself to be a single race because he wasn't so focused on the idea of a race of perfect humans. He argued that all of the eugenics should not be assumed to be the same. They would understand that it makes sense for perfect humans to be more diverse than a group of white people. The OG character in the show, Wesker, wants to create the perfect human, but I don't think he's eugenic.

The term "eugenics" was first used in 1884 by Sir Francis Galton, who believed that a new and improved human race could be created by having superior genes. It has been used by the Nazis, Ancient Greece, and the United States and is often backed with scientific language. The white, blond Wesker is clearly made with the ideal in mind, and it has been at the core of Resident Evil since the beginning. It feels like the desire to cast Reddick came first, then the justification came second, in regards to the idea of him being more diverse. It is strange and stupid to catch my attention.

I will be watching Resident Evil. The franchise is inconsistent and the previous attempts at live action have been hit or miss, but I will watch for this. Lance Reddick is one of the actors I will be marked out for. It will make the show more interesting if they play with the significance of a black Wesker.
