Lisandro is set to sign a five-year contract with Manchester United, which is worth up to £57 million.

United will pay a guaranteed 57m for the Argentina international defender with an additional 10m in add-ons. The move will see the two of them working together again, this time at Old United.

The deal is still subject to both medical and visa requirements, with completion expected in the coming days, before he puts pen to paper on a five-year contract in Manchester.

On Friday evening, a picture of him and his agent on a plane with the caption "heading to Manchester" was posted on his social media accounts.

They were interested in the Argentina player but were defeated. While the prospect of playing for Mikel Arteta was appealing to him, he chose to join Manchester United.

As part of the standard solidarity payments involved in international transfers, around 2m will be split between his old clubs.

Martinez offers brains, brawn and versatility

Nick Wright is a writer for Sky sports.

Martinez averaged more passes per 90 minutes than any other Eredivisie player, while only two players directed more passes forward.

Martinez is able to play through opposition lines but he is also able to switch the play and pick out his teammates over long distances. No player averaged more successful long passes.

MARTINEZ

He is small for a centre-back and was voted the player of the year by his peers.

He made more headed clearances than any other player and won more aerial battles than any other player, giving him a success rate of 71 percent and putting him second only to Harry Maguire among current centre-backs.

He is helped by a sound reading of the game, which is something he can expect to face more often in the premier league. He is well-known for anticipating strikers' runs and positioning himself to make tackles.

He's all the more attractive to Premier League teams because of his versatile and technical skills.
