  • Google Maps has quietly rolled out a new appearance for its shared location pin.
  • The icon now removes the white border around your contact's avatar for a cleaner design.
  • It appears to be arriving to users gradually via a server-side update.

A new update to the feature's icon will be noticed by users who frequently use the app to keep track of their family member's location. The navigation app's shared location pin has been changed.

The shared location icon has a more refined look that matches the rest of the design. The pin icon now has a profile photo without a white border, which is a slight change from its previous appearance.

The white border has vanished, making it easier to see your contact'savatar. The visibility of the sharing party's profile photo is improved by it.

One of the most useful features of Maps is the ability to share your location, so it makes sense for the search engine to pay attention to it as well. The white border reappears when you tap on a contact's name in the latest design change.

The latest adjustment to Maps is something that has been introduced by the search engine. A series of updates to the app have been pushed by the search giant since June. Maps now show toll price estimates for over 2,000 toll roads. There are new features in the newest version of Maps that will show an energy efficient route for electric and hybrid cars.

The new update doesn't change anything. The new look appears to be rolling out via an update on the server side.
