After their flights to London were canceled, four visitors to Paris came up with a novel way to get around.

It was cheaper and quicker than trying to find alternative flights.

Steven, a healthcare worker, and a friend were talking about alternative routes home when two Americans overheard them.

The travelers realized that it would cost more to return to the UK.

Steven told Daily Mail Australia that they were told not to go to Gatwick until Wednesday.

They tried to hire a car but were told they couldn't leave the car in the UK, so they looked for an alternative.

The group was able to get from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris to London on the same day.

The passengers found a willing driver, who had his passport on him, and agreed to a 600 fee and paid an additional 238 to take the train that transports vehicles from France to the UK.

It was worthwhile. One passenger told Daily Mail Australia that they wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't the middle of the night.

They traveled for six and a half hours to get back to the UK in time for college and work the next day.

Steven told Daily Mail Australia that the driver played music on the journey.

Due to staff shortages, sickness, and industrial action, travelers across the globe had their flights delayed or canceled in recent weeks.

About 25% of Transavia's flights were canceled on Thursday in France and 15% on Wednesday due to strike action.
