Jessica Hoxworth has lived in the Lone Star State her whole life and is ready to leave.

She and her husband will be moving to Seattle, Washington, in February of next year.

She is one of many Americans who allow politics to influence their homebuying and renting decisions.

It's a bad time for progressivists and liberals. The recent decision of the Supreme Court of the United States reinforced the need to leave Texas in order to remain safe.

Texas is at the heart of the story. Republican lawmakers who have dominated the state's legislature for 47 years have worked to overturn more than fifty years of legalized abortions nationwide. According to an April University of Texas poll of 1,200 people, the state is one of 13 with a potential Trigger Law that could make abortion completely illegal.

Americans don't like the fact that US politics are becoming more divided. It could lead to more citizens like Hoxworth moving to like minded states, cities, and neighborhoods in an attempt to regain their political power.

Hoxworth encouraged his friends to leave Texas if they could. Two friends of ours started looking at the Seattle area after the SCOTUS ruling.

Liberals aren't the only Americans relocating to be around more like-minded people

Hoxworth moved to Seattle because she wanted to live there. The Black Lives Matter movement and the state's management of the Pandemic were important factors.

"The response in Texas to some monumental moments, including COVID and police brutality, made my husband and I want to distance ourselves from what we feel is a 'hub' of ignorant and hostile to truth," she said.

Since college, our views have changed to a more progressive one, and Seattle fits that vibe.

More Americans are considering where they will live as politics become more personal. Increasing numbers of conservatives are moving to states that align with their political views. Several Facebook groups are devoted to helping people move to Texas.

Not everyone can afford a cross country move. The nation's hot job market is competitive and home and rental prices are still historically high. Without remote work, she wouldn't be able to move.

"My husband and I wanted to make sure we moved from a place of strength, and we're lucky enough to land fully remote jobs that will allow us to maintain our lifestyle even with the increased cost of living we are expecting." It's the only way we can move fast.

Seattle has the most expensive housing in the country. The median price for a home in the Seattle metro area is $875,000, while the monthly cost for an apartment is $2,190. Home and rental prices in Dallas have gone up since the beginning of the year. It's expensive to move across the country to any housing market with the cost of living increasing.

Hoxworth knows she made the right decision.

She said that Seattle is a blue state and is close to Canada. We love nature and we believe that it will be very fulfilling for us.
