Over time, your speaker's will get filled with dust, dirt, and other disgusting debris, even if you think you're keeping your phone clean. This can cause your speakers to sound distorted and muffled.

We're going to show you how to get your speakers to work again.

Check to make sure your iPhone speakers are working

If you don't know if your speaker is working correctly, there is a quick way to check.

Click on "Sounds" or "Sounds & Haptics" in the settings app on your phone. Look for the "Ringer and Alerts" button on the screen.

The sound should be different at different volumes. You should get in touch with Apple if you don't hear any sound or if your speaker button is turned off.

The "don'ts" of cleaning your iPhone speakers

Here are the things you shouldn't do before you start thinking about what equipment you need or how to repair your phone.

Try not to use sharp objects. It has been suggested that you should use toothpicks, tweezers, and paperclips to clean your speaker grilles. It's not a good idea.

Don't drink rubbing alcohol. Even though rubbing alcohol does evaporate more quickly than water, it's not a good mix.

Don't use air that's canned. The force produced by these products isn't strong enough to clean delicate electronics. The dirt could be forced further into the device.

What's Apple's official advice?

We thought we would take a look at Apple's official advice on how to clean your speaker in your phone. The speaker or receiver should be cleaned with a soft-bristled brush. The brush needs to be clean and dry.

Our "do's" of cleaning your speakers are going to be a step further.

The "do's" of cleaning your iPhone speakers

Use a soft bristled brush to clean your speaker grilles. The brush should be used at an angle so that you don't force the dirt up into the grille.

The twin-pack of extra- soft bristled toothbrushes is ideal for the job. Each of these brushes has 20,000 bristles.

Consider investing in a cleaning product. You want the putty to be as sticky as possible so you don't push the dirt further in but remove it when you're done.

Use a blower. These useful devices are not as useful as canned, compressed air. After you've used the soft bristled brush, use an air blower to get rid of any debris that has fallen.

The rubber used in the Pixel RB-20 is strong enough to provide a robust blast of air and is comfortable to hold.

Isn't that worse?
