In an interview with PBS, Sen. Chris Murphy said, "We value white life in this country more than black life."

The mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas led to the introduction of a bill by Murphy.

Murphy said when white people are killed, this country pays attention in a way that they don't when black people are killed.

He told a story about a father who was shot and killed in Baltimore and how the community would react differently if it happened in a white suburb. He said that it would be national news.

The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was signed by President Biden on June 25.

Murphy has advocated for gun reform since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
