The National Weather Service says there is a chance of rain in the evening and overnight in the Valley.

The National Weather Service expects temperatures to reach or exceed 112 degrees from Thursday to Sunday. Phoenix had its hottest day of the year so far on July 11th, with a high of 115 degrees.

Sean Benedict with the National Weather Service said that Phoenix should see high temperatures around this time of year. It's up to 5 degrees warmer than normal.

Benedict said that it will still be hot on Monday as temperatures are expected to sit between 105 and107 degrees.

Benedict warned people to take precautions against high temperatures even though the National Weather Service did not issue an excessive heat warning.

People are encouraged to drink lots of water and stay indoors as much as possible. It states that children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles when the temperature is high.

Dust storms, lightning and flash floods can be seen in the photos.

Benedict said that there is a chance of some storms going into the weekend with the best chances being in the afternoon and evening on Thursday and Sunday.

In the south-central Arizona area, most of the activity is predicted. The National Weather Service predicts that there will be a 20% chance of rain each evening through Sunday.

Benedict said that this bout of storms is consistent with monsoon behavior.
