Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan in Marvel's Ms. Marvel.

The big point of discussion surrounding the show was the way in which it changed the powerset of the main character. Instead of being an Inhuman with the ability to grow and expand her body, Kamala had a family heirloom that allowed her to create constructs mimicking her comic powers, but not really. The show's tweaking of her origin has been mixed, and then the season finale makes things even more complicated with a late game reveal that ends her place as a comic book character. If you know, you already know, and if you don't, just watch the episode.

Bruno looks into the bangle that grants her powers in the final moments of the finale of the show. The 90s X-Men theme plays when Bruno tells her there is something different in her genes. She is the first official Mutant of the MCU.

The decision to make Kamala a Mutant was discussed for a long time. When the character was first conceived, they had a plan for her to become a Mutant. We wanted to make her a Mutant when we first thought of her. It was the intention to be able to do that. At some point in the creative process, she would become an Inhuman who discovered her powers after Black Bolt blew up theTerrigen Bomb and created a whole new wave of Inhumans. There were some Nu Human characters in the past, but none of them took off the way that Kamala did with a wider audience.

The best day of her life was when she brought the Mutants into the fold. The creative team was trying to figure out why she would be able to use the bangle, but no one in her family would, so it was important to keep her different from the rest of the Khans. They kept it a secret once they decided on this. Vellani responded to Kevin Feige by email. She said that it was the biggest deal in the world and that it was happening in her show.

The question now is what the future holds for the comic book company. If and when we get a new team, she will most likely be on it as the first Mutant Avenger, paving the way for future Mutants like Sunspot, or whoever else to join the roster. It is assumed that the Avenger don't ruin it all by pissing off the Mutants. She might have a reason to hang around with the X-Men in the near future; maybe not as a long time member but someone they can call on or hang out with during their free time. At some point, Wolverine will need another daughter to play off of, and that is as good a dynamic as any to play around with.

Things get a little more difficult in the comic books. At a time when Fox owned the movie rights to the X-Men, the Inhumans were created as an alternative to those characters. The Inhumans were mostly killed off during the Death of the Inhumans event, with the remaining survivors MIA since. She occasionally looped her into Inhuman stories or had her hang out with Lockjaw, but her comics didn't make being an Inhuman an important part of her comic history. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that she will be offered a chance to join the New Mutants and possibly realize her Mutant heritage. If they were able to retcon Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver into not being Mutants, they would be able to retcon Kamala into being one.

Expect this to become a poster for some film or TV show in the next few years.

The story of Kamala Khan is still being written. She will most likely be one of the least interesting things to happen to her given the time. It is a reminder that comic books are not normal.
