Charles Oliveira-Islam Makhachev lightweight title bout to headline UFC 280 on Oct. 22 in Abu Dhabi

The UFC has booked a lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev to headline UFC 280.

The event will take place at the arena. The contest is lightweight.

The fight will be for the UFC's vacant 155-pound title, although the majority of the sport views the defending champion.

The Brazilian won the title with a knockout over the American. He gave up the belt in May when he couldn't make weight for a fight against Gaethje.

Gaethje was submitted in the first round. The result was not a title fight. He has won at least one bout in 11 straight bouts.

Makhachev is seen as the biggest threat to Oliveira. Makhachev has won 10 in a row in the UFC, which is the longest winning streak in the history of the sport. He has finished four of his last five opponents.
