Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve won't play in Tuesday's All-Star Game after being hit by a pitch and will be replaced by Cleveland's Andrés Gimenez.
The Los Angeles Angels hit Altuve on the left knee. He was not in the lineup for Friday's game and won't play in the game on Saturday.
Fans voted for a starter and Altuve was one of them. The American League will have a replacement for Altuve.
Giménez will start in place of Altuve. Gimnez was part of the trade that sent Francisco Lindor to the New York Mets. In 78 games, he has a batting average of.299 with 10 homers and 43 RBIs. He's batting.384 with runners in scoring position.
