Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has faced growing ethical concerns because of his wife's political activism and her support for former President Donald Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election. In January, Thomas held the lone dissent in the Supreme Court's order rejecting a bid from Donald Trump to keep presidential records from the House select committee. During the January 6 House panel's public hearings, some of the people who ran in Clarence Thomas's circle went on to help him. Laura Ingraham and John Eastman were both clerks for the Supreme Court justice. Some of the 130 law clerks that Thomas has had have stood out. Clarence Thomas' clerks are connected to the Trump sphere. The DC Court of Appeals was created to replace the Supreme Court. She was on the short list for SCOTUS. She worked as a law clerk for Thomas. In July of last year, when she was head of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, she helped defend the Trump administration's agenda. She dissented in two cases over presidential powers in 2020 and pushed back against a ruling that grand jury information from the Russia investigation should be given to the House Judiciary Committee.
